Idioms

IDIOM - slovní spojení - nedá se přeložit doslovným překladem jednotlivých slov, jako například "Ztratit hlavu" apod. A proč? Právě proto, když narazíte někdy v angličtině na nějaká spojení a nebude vám dávat překlad smysl - může se jednat právě o idiom. Takže chyba není na vaší straně :)

                                                             This week's idiom is:

"TO GET COLD FEET"  - ztratit odvahu


Někdy ztratíme odvahu udělat něco, co jsme chtěli, protože znervózníme, nebo si přestaneme být jistí, že je to správný krok. 

Sue was going to ask her boss for a pay rise, but she got cold feet at the last minute. 

He was about to marry her, but he got cold feet.
 

When did you get cold feet?

Maybe you can write a sentence or think of a situation. 

Last time I got cold feet ......

Last time I got cold feet I was on a water slide like this one.
